Come and Jive In Week Five!

Hi Parents,

We've been learning about Birthdays this week.  It was Ben the bear's Birthday so we sang 'Happy Birthday' to him and asked him his age.  Ben wanted to know how old the children are so we played 'Roll the Ball And Say Your Age'.  The children enjoyed playing with Ben and learning how to answer the question 'How Old Are You?.  If you have time it would be useful to practice this question with your child.
Let sing 'Happy Birthday' to Ben

'Happy Birthday Ben!'

In the pre-writing centre the children made birthday cards for Ben the bear.  They have been tracing horizontal and vertical lines and also have been learning how to hold crayons and pencils correctly using 'Froggy Fingers'.

The children have learnt a new letter sound this week and the accompanying song with actions 'Caterpillar's coughing /c/ /c/ /c/  Here is a reminder of the phonics songs reference link starting from a and finishing with z.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFFyS3PrjZk

The highlight in our phonics centre was making a musical story.  Each pupil chose a character from the 'Gingerbread Man' story and an instrument.  Every time their character's name was read out they had to play their instrument.  The children really had fun doing this and learnt how to read hand signals for 'stop' (closed hand) and 'play' (open hand).

Hands open means 'play'
Hands closed means 'stop'

WEEK 5 PHOTO COLLECTION!

'Jack and Jill Went Up The Hill'

Mark-Making to classical music.

The faster the tempo of the music, the faster I move my pen.

Jack and Jill Puppets

'Jill came tumbling after!'

'I mixed red and yellow paint together and made orange!'

'Squeeze the bag and make a new colour!'

After we play we clean up!

We love problem solving by fitting bricks together and this also improves our motor skills.

'HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN! - Writing Birthday cards for Ben.
We work hard and are proud of what we do!

'Happy Birthday Ben!  I'm making a card for you.'
