We've been learning about Birthdays this week. It was Ben the bear's Birthday so we sang 'Happy Birthday' to him and asked him his age. Ben wanted to know how old the children are so we played 'Roll the Ball And Say Your Age'. The children enjoyed playing with Ben and learning how to answer the question 'How Old Are You?. If you have time it would be useful to practice this question with your child.

The children have learnt a new letter sound this week and the accompanying song with actions 'Caterpillar's coughing /c/ /c/ /c/ Here is a reminder of the phonics songs reference link starting from a and finishing with z. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFFyS3PrjZk
The highlight in our phonics centre was making a musical story. Each pupil chose a character from the 'Gingerbread Man' story and an instrument. Every time their character's name was read out they had to play their instrument. The children really had fun doing this and learnt how to read hand signals for 'stop' (closed hand) and 'play' (open hand).
Hands open means 'play' |
