It's Getting A Bit Fishy Around Here!

Fishing Fun!

There was a very stinky smell in Kindergarten but nobody seemed to mind.  Everybody was too busy catching fish and proudly counting how many they caught and comparing their catch with their peers.

Let's Get Planting /f/ /f/ Flowers!

Letter 'f' Activities

Last week Kindergarten were introduced to letter 'f'.  We explored the shape of the letter by making burning letter 'f' collages with red and yellow paper, this resembled fire.  In 'Discovery' class the pupils planted /f/ /f/ flowers, coloured pictures of their favourite flowers, made a giant flower as a group and model flowers in yoghurt pots.

Early Years Sports Day November 2013

Sports Day

Kindergarten really sweated it out in the sports hall and showed off their physical stamina!  The children were engrossed in all of the fun games including pushing a giant ball around, balancing a beanbag on a tennis racket whilst running and a team assault course.  As well as improving the children's physical skills, the training also aimed to teach the children important social skills such as taking turns and working together to achieve the same goal.

Thank you to all parents who joined!

Wai Kru Ceremony October 2013

Wai Kru Ceremony

Wai Kru is a special day for teachers across Thailand.  Pupils say 'thank you' to their teachers by giving them flowers and doing a traditional 'Wai'.

KG Forever Friends!!!!

KG Forever Friends!

The children have been learning about what makes a good friend.  They learned that good friends share, use friendly hands, give, hug, hold hands and speak nice words to one another.

Each pupil made a necklace for their friend in class and presented to them in a friendship ceremony.

Our Listening Walk....

Listen, Listen KG Class, Listen, Listen KG Class.

One ear here, one ear there.

Both ears listening everywhere!

We all have two ears and most of us are lucky enough to be blessed with the ability to hear.  Listening is not just 'hearing', it is a skill that requires a pupil to concentrate on what they hear, to be able to distinguish between different sounds, to connect sounds to objects or people and to remember the tone and rhythm of the sound.  This skill cannot be acquired overnight, in fact, it is an ongoing process.  Having the ability to listen to sounds in the environment also helps children acquire the ability to listen to and remember the sounds of letters in the alphabet.  Thus, it helps children to be able to read when they are older.

Here are some photos from our listening walk....

KG grew VERY big ears and remembered all of the things they heard on the listening walk. These were; Fans in the early years building, cars from the road outside, birds in the garden, water in the fountain, the gate, the maids talking, children talking in their classrooms, teachers talking in their classrooms, leaves rustling from the wind in the trees and the sound of their feet whilst walking.
